A random thing generator selects everyday objects, tools, or playful items from a curated list so you can run icebreakers, game prompts, writing exercises, or brainstorming sessions without building lists manually. It is designed for activities and inspiration—not as a shopping catalog, inventory system, or product search.
This Muxgen tool runs in your browser: set thing-count (default 1), pick a Category, toggle Allow duplicate things, generate emerald thing result cards, and copy. No account and no server upload for your picks.
Three simple steps from category filter to copy-ready thing lists.
Enter thing-count (default 1), then pick a Category chip from 7 options including All.
Toggle Allow duplicate things for repeats up to 100, or turn it off for unique-only batches capped by the category pool (20–120).
Click Generate thing, review emerald thing cards, then Copy to clipboard for hunt lists, chat, or activity notes.
Every control in the random thing generator component.
Number input min 1 — max 100 with duplicates on, or maxBatchForThingSettings when duplicates off. Default 1.
7 toggle buttons from THING_CATEGORY_FILTER_OPTIONS — default All.
Checked by default — enables repeated things and raises max count to 100. Unchecked uses a used Set for unique picks within the pool.
Live pool.length from getThingPool — updates when category changes; disables generate at zero.
Primary button — plural label when count > 1; disabled when pool.length === 0.
Right panel shows emerald bordered cards with centered thing names, or empty state "Configure options and click generate" with dice emoji.
Ghost button — formatThingCopyList comma-separated export; Copied! feedback for two seconds.
Polite live region below the pool count — reports category updates, duplicate toggles, max-count clamping, and generation summaries.
Counts from countThingsInCategory in random-thing-generator-data.ts. All merges these pools into 120 things.
