Build one meta description from a keyword, an audience, a value, and a call to action. The boxes open on a laptop guide. With Professional, Standard, and the year on, 2026 produces a 146-character sentence that this page labels Great length. The keyword is used instead of the title. Copy gives you the sentence, not a <meta> tag.

Learn budget laptops for students for college students and parents with top picks, buying tips, and price comparisons in 2026 Read the full guide.
Length: 146 characters
Status: Great length
It fills a sentence template. The first word is Learn, Discover, Boost results with, or Explore. The keyword comes next. If that box is empty, the page title is used. If both are empty, the subject is “this resource”. Audience is prefixed with “for”, the unique value with “with”, and the year with “in”.
The call to action is capitalized and added with a space, not as its own sentence. The sample therefore says “in 2026 Read the full guide.” A single period is placed at the end. Extra spaces are collapsed, and a period you typed at the end of a field is stripped before that final period is added.
The text updates as you type. It is not uploaded, and it is not written into a page on your site.
Four steps. The preview follows each edit.
The keyword, audience, value, and call to action are already filled in. The keyword wins over the title.
Professional and Standard are selected. Short, standard, and long are caps of 120, 155, and 170.
Include current year is on. In 2026 the phrase is “in 2026”, placed before the call to action.
Copy Meta Description copies the sentence. It does not copy a meta tag or the preview URL.
What the loaded form produces when the clock says 2026.
| Setting | This generator |
|---|---|
| Writer | A template. Not a language model |
| Default tone | Professional, which starts with Learn |
| Default length | Standard, a cap of 155 characters |
| Sample in 2026 | 146 characters, labeled Great length |
| Subject | Keyword, otherwise title, otherwise “this resource” |
| Year | On. “in” plus the browser’s current year |
| Copy | The sentence only, not a meta tag |
| Preview URL | Always example.com/page-url |
| Clear | Empties the five text boxes. Tone, length, and year stay |
| Update | Live, as you type |
Clear wipes the text fields and leaves tone, length, and the year checkbox alone.
Shown in blue in the preview. Used in the sentence only when the keyword box is empty.
The subject after Learn, Discover, Boost results with, or Explore. It overrides the title.
Added as “for …” and “with …”. Either one is skipped when its box is empty.
Capitalized and appended with a space. The sample becomes “2026 Read the full guide.”
Professional is Learn. Friendly is Discover. Salesy is Boost results with. Neutral is Explore.
Caps of 120, 155, and 170. The year checkbox uses the browser’s calendar year and starts on.
Professional, Standard, year on, clock in 2026. 146 characters. The title “Best Budget Laptops for Students” is in the preview only, because the keyword box is filled in.

Salesy is the only one of these four that hits the 155 cap. The others fit under it.
| Tone | Opening | Characters | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Professional | Learn | 146 | Great length |
| Friendly | Discover | 149 | Great length |
| Salesy | Boost results with | 155 | Great length, cut to “full...” |
| Neutral | Explore | 148 | Great length |
The status reads the finished sentence, including a three-dot cut. It does not read pixel width.
| Label or cap | Rule |
|---|---|
| Great length | 140–160 characters |
| Good length | 120–139 or 161–170 |
| Adjust length | Under 120 or over 170 |
| Short cap | 120, then three dots if it had to cut |
| Standard cap | 155 |
| Long cap | 170 |
Short on the friendly sample cuts at a word and lands at 111 characters, so the status says Adjust length even though Short’s cap is 120. Turning the year off on the professional sample drops it from 146 to 138, which is also Adjust.
