Unicode Text 18

These are math symbols, not a font. Screen readers may read them letter by letter or skip them, and search often won't match them, so keep names and keywords in plain text.
Everything runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere.
Unicode is the standard that gives every character a number, called a code point. Unicode 18.0, released on September 16, 2026, defines 172,808 characters, from letters and digits to emoji. A plain A is U+0041.
A Unicode text generator does two jobs. It swaps letters for styled look-alikes that Unicode encodes for math, so bold A becomes U+1D400, and it shows the code points behind any text in the formats programmers use.
Choose what to do
Pick Unicode fonts, Text to code points, Code points to text, or Inspect characters.
Type or paste your text
Results update as you type. The counter shows visible characters, code points, UTF-16 units and UTF-8 bytes. Press Example to try accented text, emoji or hidden characters.
Copy the result
Copy one line, copy every style or format as a numbered list, or copy the character table into a spreadsheet.
13 styles come from the Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block, U+1D400 to U+1D7FF, added in Unicode 3.1 in 2001. Fullwidth comes from the Halfwidth and Fullwidth Forms block. Only 6 styles have digits: Bold, Double-Struck, Sans-Serif, Sans-Serif Bold, Monospace, Fullwidth.

24 letters, such as script B and double-struck R, were encoded years earlier in the Letterlike Symbols block (ℬ, ℝ). Unicode left gaps in the math block instead of encoding them twice, so the generator fills those gaps from Letterlike Symbols.
Apps measure length in different units. "Unicode Text 18" is 15 characters in every unit, but its bold version, 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐨𝐝𝐞 𝐓𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝟏𝟖, is 15 visible characters, 28 UTF-16 units and 54 UTF-8 bytes.
| Text | Example | Visible | Code points | UTF-16 units | UTF-8 bytes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Plain letter | A | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 |
| Accented letter | é | 1 | 1 | 1 | 2 |
| e plus combining accent | é | 1 | 2 | 2 | 3 |
| Bold math letter | 𝐀 | 1 | 1 | 2 | 4 |
| Emoji | 😀 | 1 | 1 | 2 | 4 |
| Emoji with skin tone | 👍🏽 | 1 | 2 | 4 | 8 |
| Family emoji | 👨👩👧 | 1 | 5 | 8 | 18 |
JavaScript's length, Java and many form fields count UTF-16 units, databases and files usually count UTF-8 bytes, and people count what they see. That is why a styled name can hit a character limit sooner than expected.
The same four characters written in each format the generator supports.
| Format | Used in | é | € | 𝐀 | 😀 |

CSS swallows one space after a hex escape, so the generator adds a second space when a real space follows. By default it leaves plain letters and digits as they are; turn on "Also escape plain letters" to escape everything.
UTF-8 is used by 99.1% of websites whose encoding is known (W3Techs, October 2026). It stores each code point in 1 to 4 bytes, depending on its range.
| Code points | Bytes | Example | UTF-16 units | Covers |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| U+0000 to U+007F | 1 | A41 | 1 | ASCII: English letters, digits, basic punctuation |
| U+0080 to U+07FF | 2 | éC3 A9 | 1 | Accented Latin, Greek, Cyrillic, Hebrew, Arabic |
| U+0800 to U+FFFF | 3 | €E2 82 AC | 1 | Most other scripts, CJK, most symbols |
| U+10000 to U+10FFFF | 4 | 𝐀F0 9D 90 80 | 2 | Styled math letters, most emoji, historic scripts |
Code points to text reads several formats in one go:
U+0048 U+0069 👋 \u{2728} 𝐁𝐨𝐥𝐝 wide
Hi 👋 ✨ Bold wide
Found: U+ code points, HTML entities, JavaScript escapes, Styled letters
NFKC normalization folds styled, fullwidth and other look-alike forms into plain characters:
𝐁𝐨𝐥𝐝 wide ℌ𝔢𝔩𝔩𝔬 file ²
Bold wide Hello file 2
It also turns ligatures like fi into fi and ² into 2. Unicode warns against using it on real math, where bold and italic letters mean different things.
Inspect characters lists each code point with its block, category and bytes, and flags invisible characters such as zero width spaces. Here is "Aé𝐀 😀":
| Character | Code point | Block | Category | UTF-8 | UTF-16 | Plain |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| A | U+0041 | Basic Latin | Uppercase letter | 41 | 0041 | |
